Manuka Essential oil

Manuka (Leptospermum Scorparium) essential oil, has been used since before the pre-European times in its native New Zealand and southeast Australia by the Maoris Tribes for centuries and has been gaining recognition globally in the most recent decades. The locals used this Tea Tree oil for many things, including but not limited to; fevers, rheumatism, insect bites, poisonous stings, burns skin disorders, stiff muscles, head colds, digestive issues and even ear infections.

Obtained using a steam distillation process, a very unusual aspect of this oil, is the concentration of the various components in this oil, depend on the height where the leaves are gathered from the tree.
The oil has a honeyish scent and is a very potent antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-allergenic, anti-histaminic and anti-fungal. In laboratory tests Manuka has been shown it to be effective against almost 40 different micro-organisms, specifically noteworthy, because it included candida tropicalis, candida albicans, streptococci and staphylococcal bacteria and various strains of Fungi.

Manuka Chemical properties: 
Contains isoleptospermone, pinene, caryophyllene,trichetones, gernoil, flavesone, linalool, leptospermone and humulene. (see how these may vary above)

Applications:

  • Anti-fungal
    Excellent for ear infections ( Never put into the ear canal. apply to the outside of the ear only!)
    Apply to the toenail bed for fungus, also, use on cold sores, cuts, itching and rashes.
  • Anti-Inflammation
    Help clear inflammation in the lungs, colon, digestive system and applied topically for rheumatism and tired, sore or aching joint and muscles. 
  • Antibacterial
    By inhibiting bacterial growth in the body it helps with infections throughout, curbing or preventing their growth.
  • Anti-allergenic
    Manuka essential oils tends to calm the reactions to pollen's, dust, pets and many other foreign particles that cause allergic reactions.
  • Anti-histaminic
    This essential oil reduces the production of histamine, giving relief to recurrent coughs from many causes.
  • Relaxant
    Diffuse for a pleasant, relaxing honey like aroma to help soothe the mind, curb depression, stress and anxiety 
  • Deodorant
    Manuka oil's antibacterial properties help to eliminate body odors and replaces them with a pleasant and refreshing scent and feel on your skin. Rub on your feet to prevent foot odor and protect against fungal infections.

Supports the appearance of healthy looking skin, reduces the appearance of blemishes.
Because Manuka has skin healing properties, and has cicatrices properties it's use can be effective in helping in general, to heal skin that is scarred or damaged. Plus, along with it's antibacterial properties it can be useful for treating acne.

How to use it:
 Aromatherapy / inhalation
Diffusing for respiratory issues and reducing stress and anxiety. ( up to 30 minutes 3 times per day)

Topically
apply and massage for help with skin afflictions, tired, sore joints and muscles, scalp / dandruff complaints
(add a couple drops to your regular shampoo or conditioner)
Add a few drops to bath water to help with skin and and a relaxing soak.

Blends well with Geranium, Lavender, Pine, Rosemary, Clove, Ylang-Ylang, Sage, Marjoram, Bergamot, Rose, Sandalwood, Peppermint, Vetiver, Juniper and Thyme.
